About me

Hey, everyone, I’m Olga and I’m here to help you in your journey through the world of art materials.

OlgaJust like you, I’m super passionate about visual and fine arts, and acrylic painting is one of my favorites. I truly believe that there is a creative spark in every single of us, whether it’s a passion for artistry or photography, scientific discoveries, engineering achievements, the development of Internet technology, film directing or much more. And it’s very important to grow this little spark and develop yourself in the niche, where your heart belongs.  On this website, I want to help everyone to build a solid foundation of necessary knowledge about acrylic painting materials and tools. I will be giving you my personal recommendations and tips. Also, I will help you to set your workspace and choose all the right supplies.

I love to talk about art and creativity! So if you have anything interesting that you want to share or any opinions of any of the content I have created on my site, please do speak up. I love feedback in every form.

So now to me and my journey through the painting arts….

I have always been attracted to art. The first time I took myself into painting was about 6 years ago. I started with simple sketches and first attempts to use paints. However, fairly quickly, I realized that the process of drawing and painting doesn’t only bring me joy, but also allows to express myself, my ideas, not to mention the pleasure to see the resulting picture.

I began to study the art history and existing painting techniques, tried the variety of paints, brushes, surfaces, and other tools. To be honest, in the beginning, it was very difficult to figure things out. I think you know that feeling when you walk into the art store and just get lost in the plenty of items. Everything looks so nice and cool, and you get so excited and literally want to buy EVERYTHING! And you end up buying things you don’t even really need. Sounds familiar? You bet! I know how frustrating it is not to know what is right for you, and what materials and tools you need to work in the selected style, or to achieve the desired effect.

Throughout the years, I’ve dug deeper into many art themes, took a variety of painting courses, and compared different art supplies brands. While I have been through my own “trial and error” experiments, I formulated my “must have” and “must know” lists, which I want to share with you. The truth is you DON’T need much! Most of the time you will stick to your selected good quality art arsenal.  Of course, with the growth of your professionalism, you will accrete additional material and all sorts of bells and whistles. But all these extras are more necessary to emphasize the individuality, rather than to develop painting skills.

Construction of the house begins with the foundation and creative experience with basic knowledge. That is the way I think it’s also very important to set aside some time to study the basic principles and theories. Inter alia composition, color theory, and basic techniques, which are the subject of some articles on my website.

Success – is only 5% of talent and 95% of hard work…

So let the smart art materials help you with this hard work, and your creative potential will become a reality!

    Hi Olga,

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent indulging in your site.
I am grateful to have found some very expert advice on the use of acrylic paints and I’m anxious to experiment on my own!

I am a life long dabbler with oils, as my mother and father both painted with oils. I’m feeling the need to travel away from my ordinary landscapes and be brave with a new medium and an entirely different style.

Thanks Olga! Your web site is a joy.
