Liquitex Acrylic Gesso is one of the best Professional Gesso available on the market and also my personal favorite. Definitely, I give 5 stars to this brand, because Liquitex makes a most dependable product for very reasonable prices (check my review of Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylics). Let's take a look closer.
Liquitex Acrylic Gesso Types
Liquitex White Gesso
I love love love this White Gesso! Top of the line!
First of all, this is a classic white sealer and ground for absorbent surfaces, such as canvas, paper, or wood. Second, this artist grade gesso provides a wonderful coverage and a good smooth surface for acrylic and oil paints.
Finally, It comes in several sizes, but you should know - a little goes a long way! This gesso is perfect for both beginners and pros.
Liquitex Heavy Gesso
This Heavy Gesso was a very pleasant discovery for me. This innovative, impasto, titanium white gesso has the ability to hold sculptural shape. Provides all the attributes of traditional acrylic gesso. Ideal for thick and sculptural application with a knife or brush. It's good for anybody who wants to play with texture.
Clear Liquitex Gesso
Why would somebody need a clear Gesso? Well, this Gesso is an awesome tool if you want to paint over patterned surfaces or wood and want to keep that background visible.
Clear Gesso provides an ideal degree of the tooth for acrylics, pastel, oil pastel, graphite, and charcoal. It is also an excellent ground for acrylic and oil paints.
Liquitex Black and Gray Gesso
If you wish to paint over dark or black background pretty often, you should consider buying a colored gesso. It establishes a color ground while providing all the attributes of traditional acrylic gesso.
Get it, never regret it!
I highly recommend Liquitex Professional Gesso to anybody! I usually order it online, because local art supply stores charge nearly double. As you can see, this is a very popular Gesso - its rating on Amazon is 4.6 (on 427 customers reviews!!!) Also, here is a link for my Canadian friends on Amazon.ca - Liquitex Gesso.
